Summer is officially here y’all! And today, I’m sharing my Easy Strawberry Limeade recipe. This one is perfect for all your summer gatherings. Everyone from the grandparents down to the kids will love it. It’s refreshing and oh so easy to make.

One think I love about recipes like this is they are perfect for a crowd. All your summertime gatherings with friends and family will be easy with Rubbermaid Beverageware. OTHER ICE TRAY HACKS

Now, everyone knows I’m a huge fan of using ice trays to make your life in the kitchen easier and promote less waste. Rubbermaid’s ice trays are durable and large enough to inspire creativity when storing your food. For this recipe, instead of regular plain ice cubes, we froze lime pieces and mint leaves with water. So when we serve the strawberry limeade with these cubes, the flavor of the lime and mint will slowly infuse into your drink.

Here are other ice tray hacks I love to reduce food waste and make your life a bit easier.

  • I am a big fan of lemon/infused water throughout the day. Simply freeze lemon and cucumber pieces in water to add flavor and a bit of that “bougee” element to your water.
  • If you’re a fan of smoothies, and easy way to store your bananas is to mash them up and freeze them in ice trays then transfer them to storage containers (like Rubbermaid TakeAlongs Containers) and keep them in the freezer.
  • One of my favorite ice tray hacks is freezing leftover or cold brew coffee and then using them in my iced coffee drinks in place of ice. This way, your iced coffee will never taste watered down.
  • As an avid wine drinker, this is a hack I use all the time. I freeze leftover red wine in ice cube trays so I can throw them in sauces and soups. This is one of those less waste hack that makes me so happy.

Easy Strawberry Limeade + Ice Tray Hacks

A crowd pleaser. This strawberry limeade is refreshing and delicious. The strawberry syrup is easy to make. And if you’re making one or a couple drinks at a time and it’ll lasts for weeks in the fridge.

Ingredients

  • 8
    cups water
  • 1.5
    lbs of fresh strawberries, washed, stem removed and cut into quarters
  • 1
    cup cane sugar *SEE NOTES
  • 1/3
    cup lime juice
  • ice
  • sparkling water
  • mint and lime slices to garnish

Instructions

  1. First, if you want to make infused ice cubes, slice a lime and quarter each slice. Roughly chop a bunch of mint leaves and place a couple pieces of limes and mint leaves into each compartment of the ice tray. Cover with water and freeze for 4 hours to overnight.
  2. Now, to make the strawberry syrup, add the water to a large pot and bring to a boil over medium-high. Add the strawberries, and cook for 15-18 minutes. After about 15 minutes, the strawberries will have lost their red color and they will be very soft. Remove the strawberries from the water with a slotted spoon or hand held strainer. Add the sugar to the strawberry infused water and stir until the sugar melts. Remove the syrup from the heat and allow it to cool completely. You can add ice to the strawberry syrup to speed up the cooling process. Once the syrup cools, add the lime juice and stir to combine.
  3. If you’re making one drink at a time, add about 1/2 cup of the strawberry syrup to a glass with a few of the infused ice cubes and top with sparkling water. Finish with fresh strawberries and a lime slice.
  4. If you’re making this for a crowd, add all of the strawberry syrup to a gallon pitcher (like Rubbermaid’s Simply Pour Pitcher. Add lots of ice to the pitcher and top with sparkling water (about 3 16-ounce cans of lime sparkling water will work).
  5. To serve, add some of the infused ice cubes to a glass and pour the strawberry limeade on top. Finish with fresh strawberries and sliced lime.

Notes

  • *You can use coconut sugar or maple syrup in place of cane sugar. But, please me aware the color of the syrup will change and be more brown than red. I haven’t tried this with Keto sugar alternatives, so if you try it, definitely let the community know how it turns out.
