Hi! I’m Charlotte

WELCOME TO OUR LITTLE CORNER OF THE INTERNET.

Where do we begin? My name is Charlotte and I am 29 years old. I have always had an exceptional love for food. You could say the cooking gene runs through my veins. For the first 10 years of my life, I lived a pretty good life in Liberia (right off the west coast of West Africa) with my Mother. I started helping my Mother in the kitchen around 6 years old and by 8 years old, my sister and I were making full meals for dinner. Along with the memories of my Mother braiding my hair ever week, cooking with her are some of my most precious memories. I can close my eyes and vividly remember every nook and cranny in that small kitchen with concrete walls.

I never imagined I would be cooking for a living. It was always a dream of mine but I never dreamed it would ever happened. I am so grateful for this platform and all you, my internet family. Seeing you make my recipes and enjoy my food is the greatest gift a girl could ever ask for.

My Struggles With Weight

I’ve always struggled with my weight. I’ve never been an insecure person, but it has certainly been a struggle to learn about and love my body. Growing up, especially throughout my high school years, I wanted to look a certain way because it was “cool”. Like many young ladies, I would lose weight (by starving myself) and a month later, gain it all back. It was not only frustrating, but it was unhealthy emotionally and physically. I was very hard on myself and that led to emotional eating which continued through my college years. As an adult, I’ve learned to embrace my curves and my cubby face. I stopped focusing on losing weight and I have started focusing on getting stronger, and healthier. Now, I have fitness GOALS, and I’ve implemented lifestyle changes that will improve my health and my opinion of myself.

When I’m not creating recipes for you, I really enjoy doing my nails, yoga, interior design, the farmers market, wine drinking, watching the housewives (all of them except New York), and exploring all the local sushi spots with my girlfriends.

My hope for this space is to connect with you through food and conversation. So, please join me and my ever-changing hair styles and lets build a community filled with people from all walks of life coming together to build a better life.
